Bizarre: two male avatars on Meta’s social networking platform invite the avatar of a female human behavior researcher to a private virtual party, then rape her avatar as they make lewd comments and pass a bottle of virtual alcohol between them. The researcher says it was especially creepy because the Oculus VR headset transmitted physical sensations to her controller when the male avatars touched her. Another researcher says that within 60 seconds of joining the same VR platform, a group of male avatars sexually assaulted hers.

Re: PTO poll: I’ve done away with PTO limits in my company. We’re 6 people small, so I understand this is unique. Once everyone was settled working from home, working 4/10s if they choose, I decided to make PTO unlimited and let my staff manage their work/life balance. We’ve been doing this for a few years now, and it’s been very successful. I have a highly motivated team, and they don’t want to burden other team members, so they manage work/time off load balancing amongst themselves. Not all of my team works 4/10s, there are folks who like a 5 day work week, and working from home they produce more than when we were in an office. I highly recommend that folks who can be more flexible in how their team works, will make for a happier workforce if you embrace some flexibility in how/when people work. Our ages range from 25-70 years old, and everyone has adapted beautifully.
Happy birthday, HISTalk! You’ve helped my career tremendously and am very glad you’re here and providing us all with such wonderful insight and commentary!
