No one should be surprised by the axes falling at Sunquest. After all, that’s Matt Hawkin’s track record, and likely why he was hired for the leadership position. He’s good at one thing: smiling at people while he lays them off.
I still find all the “good news” coming out of Sunquest these days hard to believe. I’ve known so many clients that have replaced them with more integrated systems, such as Cerner, and yes even Epic. Epic is continuing to prove that they have a viable lab system and, it’s only going to get better. My prediction is that 5-10 years from now, the Sunquest lab system will be on-life support.
Matt will need to get rid of more than just the VP of HR. There are other poisonous people left from the Misys days.
