Worth pointing out per the article about the hacking that it isn’t one sided, the US is taking data from these countries as well.

As American intelligence agencies try to find out what Russia, China and Iran may have stolen, they could encounter information on those countries’ research and collect it.”
While it stands to reason that that hacking isn’t one-way traffic alone, history shows us that a country with valuable intellectual property is a more likely target than one without.
