Vanderbilt hospital employees breached patient records

An EHR audit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (TN) finds that two patient transporters inappropriately accessed more than 3,000 medical records between May 2015 and December 2016. A spokesperson for the hospital reports that the transporters were disciplined, but additional details were not disclosed.

  1. So I was reading the HIMSS blog piece on the CIO Forum during HIMSS 2017, where Epic announced additional versions of the EHR, wondering when the HIMSS Conference would become the annual spring EPIC users group. 🙂

  2. If a data breach occurs in an Epic hospital does it really happen?… since no one but Epic can read the data due to their legendary interoperability issues?

  3. You’re being a dumb ass… Epic’s data sits in a relational data model in MS SQL Server or Oracle and Cache.
