Oracle releases its Oracle Health EHR for ambulatory providers in the US.

The company says it will add hospital functionality to the cloud-based, voice-first system in 2026.

An entrepreneur couple who bought telemarketer-pitched health insurance to avoid the high cost of ACA premiums spends $20,000 on coverage that paid almost none of their medical bills. The plans are sold by a shell company that secretly lists each customer as a limited partner to evade state insurance regulation, which provides an exemption for employer-provided plans. One Atlanta mailbox serves as the employer address for 30,000 such “workers.” Telemarketing firms used deepfake ads featuring Taylor Swift and Dr. Phil promising cash payouts to lure callers into insurance pitches.

  1. I’ll be interested to track the adoption and feedback for this voice/AI driven product from Oracle. As described in the ad, I can see the case that it would help with those 80% style appointments and cases. But that’s the easy part – EHR providers have been offering various acceleration workflows in this space for years and now most are adopting AI assistance or integration with standalone products.

    The 20%? The edge cases? The tricky logic health systems implement to optimize data consistency and coding? Interplay between this and the hospital or specialty toolsets? That seems like it’s going to be a barrier, and if Oracle’s new EHR can’t address those then the total market here seems pretty narrow.

    But hey, it’s not like they’ve had trouble addressing the final mile problem over the last decade…

  2. Oracle Health’s marketing of their “new” EHR is easy to compare to the Great and Powerful Oz’s proclamations before the curtain was pulled back. Oracle keeps touting their believed strengths (software development, AI, Cloud, etc) and ignoring their capabilities in and understanding of healthcare. They surely have strengths, but their knowledge of healthcare’s unique issues are not being expressed. Why is physician documentation so complex and burdensome? It’s the Revenue Cycle behind the curtain.

  3. I’m curious if Oracle offering is actually available. I see the marketing but have not heard which systems are actually utilizing it. Until that time, it seems like marketing. None of the press releases actually indicate who is using it.

  4. EHRMusing, you’re assuming what you see in the ad is what they’re selling, but watch until the end: “Not all products and features shownare (sic) currently offered.”

    It’s embarrassing even by Cerner’s vaporware standards. You’d feel bad for them if they weren’t swimming in data center money. And the VA and taxpayers get to pay for this silliness.

  6. So .. that Oracle video was something. Let’s go through some choice moments:
    1. “Show me the labs”…. Which labs? Is that really meant to be useful?? Patients can have hundreds of labs.
    2. Personalized Patient BP goal extracted from guidelines of 125/80… Press X to Doubt.
    3. A center card in the EHR with a callout for “Clinical trials/Notes”. How are those two things in the same card? Which doc is looking for those two things together?

    An earlier comment calls out how it can be useful in the 80%. Are you sure? I can’t see how this is useful in any percent.
