MR. H: What’s your take on Practice Fusions’ re-upping on funding every 6 months?
Here’s my take: They are scrambling to make Stage 2. It takes vendors millions of dollars to develop/test/support HIT software, it’s not like the typical Silicon Valley software they are used to creating–I don’t think the original VCs had a full understanding of HIT when they originally invested. Lastly, I think Practice Fusion is masking their health by claiming big pharm is paying for their data. It’s not like that’s a novel idea or Practice Fusion is the only product with data. Acute vendors (Epic/Cerner/McKesson/Allscripts, etc.) have had much more data for much longer time.
I heard only 15 vendors were MU Stage 2 complete certified. I think we’re going to see A LOT of replacement out there.
Love your blog, its one of my guilty pleasures every morning.
