  1. Any good suggestions for point of sale systems for retail sales in a hospital outpatient pharmacy? Thank you

  2. Well, the big systems answers that I (sorta) know. In Meditech this is done via AOM or POM. In Epic this is a module called Willow Outpatient Pharmacy. This would give you, I expect, tie-ins to the patient record, inventory management, billing, all the organizational stuff you’d want. This is emphasizing the “hospital” part of your query.

For smaller, more specialized systems, maybe someone like Cardinal/Care Fusion has something?

If you were only selling Over The Counter drugs, you might be able to get away with a pure retail POS system. But that seems very unlikely, especially given the hospital setting. Your outpatients are going to want any drugs prescribed by their doctors.

Sorry, I don’t know enough about this part of the pharmacy business to go much further than this. I did a lot with inpatient pharmacy and nothing at all with outpatient.
