  1. Re. the Boston Globe story. The story seems a little incomplete. For more than a decade, Cerner has voluntarily reported events and near-misses to the FDA’s Medwatch database. That’s for all solutions, not just the ones with 510k clearances like Blood Bank. I’m not aware of any other vendors who do voluntary reporting through Medwatch, though.

  2. Seriously M???

    Does Cerner report to the FDA any time a customer finds that some doctor has put incorrect information (a weight entered wrong, a cut and paste of an old note, etc.) to the FDA? No way – go check it, it’s not true.

    Does Cerner report every downtime or system access interruption to the FDA? No way – go check it, it’s not true.

    Does Cerner report every time a customer complains about a “design not meeting the need” to the FDA? No way – go check it, it’s not true.

    Jeesh, enough with the self indulgent marketing.
