Wow, Nuance dethroned in the speech recognition category, their bread and butter area. Maybe it is time they bring back some of the leadership that made their Escription product great in the first place.

Cerner is best in class for extensive IT outsourcing. Hmmm. What does that mean, exactly? Epic sure took it to Cerner.

Extensive IT outsourcing means that an external entity runs a healthcare organization’s IT department and services. AFAIK, Cerner has a deal with one of the University of Missouri health centers to do that, apparently they do it for other organizations as well. Epic does not provide such a service.

In regards to Comments 2 and 3, there are several “remotely hosted” Cerner shops so I’m guessing that’s what the category entails. I know Care New England (RI) is one of those.

Eddie T was correct. Extensive IT outsourcing means that an external entitiy runs the IT department and manages the IT solutions. Ron Mexico is talking about the application hosting which Cerner is also listed first in KLAS. The two are much different services.

So where’s all the angry Epic users that posted the nasty comments the other day.
Guess they don’t know how to use the KLAS web site, or the Epic Kool-Aid must be out of this world!
