“An Epocrates survey finds that 20% of doctors say they’ll be buying an iPad within a year, good news for the company since it has already committed to creating an iPad version of its drug information software.”

This is of course taking into account that these are apparently 350+ clients of Epocrates already. I’d say that the 9% who intend to be early adapters are probably going to purchase the product but that we won’t have reasonable statistics until those early adopters report back on whether the ipad and its relatively short battery life (without swappable batteries) is useful in a clinical setting.

Nurse Carol, I think your comments related to EMRs are missing the forest for the trees. I agree that a single stand-alone EMR could be viewed as having marginal benefits within the walls of a single healthcare delivery system. But, each individual EMR is an essential building block to something much bigger. It is the eventual amalgamation of regional and national EMRs which can bring significant benefits to the public health of the people in our country.
