One of the few reason is makes sense to let a firm bill you out at 150/hr and pay you 50/hr (100k a year) is if the firm assumes the responsibility of paying you even when business is slow. It seems some of the bigger firms don't realize how that sort of behavior undermines their sole reason for being.
