It can get a lot worse unfortunately. I love listening to the StackOverflow podcast and one thing I find interesting: both hosts have subscriber bases in the 100K+ area and they have repeatedly discussed how much negative feedback they get after posting to their blog. Sometimes after making a controversial comment they'll say "uh-oh, I'm going to get a lot of emails about that." It's just what happens. Unfortunately I don't have anything helpful to say, except, sorry, there's going to be more where that came from. As online communities grow, they tend to grow meaner. It can get a lot worse unfortunately.
