The ARRA includes $2 billion for community health centers, which is separate from the meaningful use/certified product money. The $2 billion can be used for IT as well for upgrading infrastructure, capital improvements, etc. http://www.hhs.gov/recovery/hrsa/healthcentergrants.html

Ok, maybe I’m stupid, but how can they get the dough next month when the whole world still doesn’t know what the heck meaingful use is yet…must have a very powerful congressman/ senator who don’t like building roads or bridges.

RE: WebMD buying it’s parent. It does sound pretty odd, but I think the key is that Hlth doesn’t own all of WebMD. According to the article, “…Hlth…owns about 80 percent of …WebMD”. That leaves the 20% of WebMD’s value to purchase HLTH.

Interesting comment on in HealthCare Informatics Epic is being provided to community doctors even cheaper than Sam’s Club.

“we are going to roll out Epic to them at a very, very discounted price. The price per doc is … let’s just say it’s better than Sam’s Club. So, we know that’s one benchmark, and we’re cheaper than Sam’s Club. We give them more than what they’re going to get with Sam’s Club because they’re getting the Epic system, they’re getting the practice management system as well as the EMR.”
