Nancy-Ann DeParle, a Clinton administration veteran, has been named by President Obama as Director of the White House Office for Health Reform, the "health czar" position conceived by Obama’s original HHS secretary nominee Tom Daschle.

DeParle managed Medicare and Medicaid in the Clinton administration and ran Tennessee’s Department of Human Services from 1987 to 1989. She sits on the board of Cerner, Medco Health, and Boston Scientific, which could raise concerns about conflicts of interest.

  1. outrageous conflict of interest! All she will do is step down from these boards…but that has served with these vendors should negate her nomination. i guess i will just move to London and watch the mess from afar.

  2. She should resign from these board positions immediately to avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest. I am surprised that was not part of her position announcement

  4. once again, the stimulus package – put another clueless lawyer with the usual “broad healthcare experience” to work “fixing” the medical system – more change we have been waiting for, or is it just recycled Clintonites … sigh

  5. I have to think that her experience will help get things on track and move them in the CORRECT direction.
