Now that we are all up to date with the genius behind Athena Software and make no mistake that it is software you can access via the web. They are expensive and their EMR and Transcription integration is week. They are not the One and Only and certianly will not be with the acceleration of On-demand services. I see HISaaS making a big dent in their marketshare and stock price.

There’s no doubt athena provides a valuable service especially since they offshore to India, but let’s not go overboard with the “ONE and ONLY” stuff, I’ve seen practices leave athena too to try to do it better in-house or with another billing company. If I knew there were billing company groupies, I would’ve started my own billing company years ago!

Nice interview – nice job “Tim” (is this a clue for us to ultimately uncover the identity of the mysterious Mr. HIStalk?).

Our group uses athena and while it is very expensive, you certainly get a lot for the money. It is easy to tell the time and effort they put into the “experience” to make athena what it is today.
