Short attention spans and task orientated IT people? Never! If you are that easily distracted, perhaps ADD medication may help. The banners never distract from the content, which is what I am here for. I agree that in today's day and age, ads, and many websites, are too eager to deploy the latest gimmick to attract attention. But you can always minimize the page and scroll to the right to eliminate seeing those terribly distracting ads!

Great Blog! Do what you have to to keep the unbiased information and humor coming!

As a sidebar comment on the ads on HISTalk (and so many other sites): When I am trying to read site content, but am constantly distracted by endless loops of rude motion filled ad banners, my reaction is not to turn to the ads and read them... but rather to physically move the page to the side so that no ad is showing at all. That allows me to read what I came to read, without the incredible annoyance of clever ads in my face. As a result, I rarely see any ads on HISTalk. They shoot themselves in the foot by trying so hard to get my attention.

If they'd stop with the annoying animations, I might actually tend to check a few out. Maybe I'm more easily distracted than most, but it irritates me into simply pushing them all off the page.

[From Mr. HIStalk] You will see a layout change on September 1 or thereabouts that will feature ads of a reduced size, which should allow more easy viewing, less distraction, and faster page loading. Animations will still be permitted, but the smaller size should tame them down and give sponsors a better chance to have their ad viewed and clicked.

In what parallel universe do you work where doctor's have first names? All of the physicians that I work with have the same first name, "Doctor." Our physicians are just getting over the latest CEO mandate that employees don't have to genuflect in the halls.

I believe the name of that movie was Father of the Bride 2. We have a doctor named Misty, she is an excellent doctor - but it reminds me that I am a generation older than many of our hospitalists. Ouch.
