As much as I love seeing old technology suffering, I didn’t like the ComputerWorld article didn’t actually seem to be doing any, well, RESEARCH. In other words, the article was more along the lines of a “my favorite ten movies” list rather than data analysis.

But yeah, I think I speak for a lot of “younguns” when I say that there’s no way I’m touching COBOL (or yeah, MUMPS either) if I have any say in the matter.

And while I’m here, I’ll mention that while it’s nice to have redundant services, there are a lot of benefits to keeping everything on a single URL. Like MEDITECH.com and MEDITECH2.com, it’s great to have a backup in case the main site goes down. UNLIKE MEDITECH2.com, your Google PageRank matters (MEDITECH doesn’t have advertising, or even spider-able content on their website).

So the short way to say all this is that there’s a reason no one else on this planet (besides MEDITECH, which has its own gravity) has two public-facing URLs.

Anyway, I like the new design.

Wow! Love the new site! I assume that is a representation of Mr. Histalk himself. Somehow I never figured you for a pipe smoking kind of guy. Now I am picturing a tweed jacket with leather elbows. Perhaps Walt Cleaver.
